As a third generation native Californian, Karie Henderson comes from a long line of explorers and innovators. Karie graduated from UCSC with a B.A in Cultural Anthropology- with an emphasis on visual representations. After gaining international success from her first ethnographic film and falling in love with the process of visually telling a story, Karie began working in documentary film in San Francisco.

Having always been interested in the arts, Karie developed a visual documentation team for a large -scale art event based out of San Francisco, which morphed into directing a team of videographers for many years. Not being able to ingnore her passion for photography and photojournalism, Karie relocated to Ventura, CA to reinvent her area of expertise by studying Visual Journalism at Brooks Institute of Photography. Her insatiable desire to learn about and share peoples stories, accented with a background in cultural anthropology, landed her with solid footing in covering 21st. Century Cowboys, a photo essay she is currently working on. When not shooting throughout the country you can find Karie at depths shooting underwater photography.

Karie's photography has appeared in The Globe and Mail, The Jakarta Post, SKI Magazine, Budget Living, Hooked on the Outdoors, Blue Magazine, Corpwatch, Utah Home and Gardens, Salt Lake Magazine, Sportsguide as well as other outlets. Her videos have aired in Port Morseby, PNG, KTEH and several college campuses throughout the USA.  Karie is available for hire, and with 29 countries under her belt, is willing and adept to travel.
